ASHMA DONATES ITEMS TO ASHAIMAN DIVISIONAL COUNCIL FOR 2026 HOMOWO CELEBRATION
The Ashaiman Municipal Assembly (ASHMA) on Monday, 24th August, 2026, donated assorted items to the Ashaiman Divisional Council towards this year’s Homowo festival celebrations.
Dr. Ernest Norgbey, the Hon. Member of Parliament for the Ashaiman Constituency, and Mr. Freeman Tsekpo, the Hon. Municipal Chief Executive of Ashaiman, presented the items and wished the entire traditional council a joyful celebration.
The items included four (4) gallons of cooking oil, twenty (20) packs of Awake bottled water, ten (10) crates of canned malt, eight (8) packs of Coca-Cola soft drinks, two (2) bags of maize, four (4) bottles of schnapps, a ram and a cheque for Ten Thousand Ghana Cedis (GH¢10,000.00).
In a brief remark, the Hon. Member of Parliament reiterated the need to support the Traditional Council during its celebrations, noting that the Assembly works in collaboration with the Council to ensure development in the Municipality. He called for prayers and God’s prosperity for the Council during the festive season.
Nii Anang Adjor III, Chief of Ashaiman, thanked the Assembly and the Member of Parliament for the kind gesture and prayed for more collaboration and support to move the Municipality forward. The Chief led the delegation to receive the items, after which a group photograph was taken.
In a closed-door meeting with the Hon MCE and the Assembly Members, Nii Anang Adjor III expressed displeasure at the Assembly Members’ inability to pay him a visit since his installation and out-dooring as Chief of Ashaiman. He further discussed key challenges that require urgent attention to ensure sanity and promote development in the Municipality with them.
Significant amongst them were prioritizing the welfare of the people of Ashaiman in development; Creation of proper layouts in underdeveloped communities; Ashaiman and TDC land acquisition and regularization disputes; and Poor collaboration between the Assembly and the Divisional Council on land matters in some specific areas.
He was of the expectation that this strong collaboration with the Assembly would yield desired development for the people.
In his response, the Hon. MCE assured the Council of the Assembly’s readiness to partner with the Traditional Council to build a better Ashaiman, promote development and economic stability.
The ceremony was witnessed by the Member of Parliament, the Municipal Chief Executive, the Chief of Ashaiman, Assembly Members, members of the Traditional Council, and some staff of the Assembly.
The short ceremony took place at the forecourt of the Traditional Council. ASHMA/ISD/MEDIA/24TH AUGUST, 2026
