HON. GODWIN TSIMESI RE-ELECTED AS ASHMA PRESIDING MEMBER
24th March 2026- Honourable Godwin Tsimesi, Assembly Member for Oko Mantey Electoral Area, has been re-elected as the Presiding Member (PM) of the Ashaiman Municipal Assembly. He contested unopposed to secure the requisite two-thirds majority approval, being eighteen (18) valid votes out of twenty-five (25) voters.
This margin of victory constituted 66.6% of the total votes cast. Four (4) Hon. Members voted against the candidate, and three (3) ballots were rejected.
The circuit court judge, Her Honour, Priscilla Sofia Yeboah, swore him into office to commence his duties as the Presiding Member of the Assembly.
He expressed his gratitude to his colleagues for the confidence reposed in him to serve a second term as the Presiding Member of the assembly. He pledged his unwavering loyalty to the call, the assembly, and the residents of the municipality. He promised to serve diligently in unity.
The PM suffered an early loss in the 17th March 2026 elections, where the two-thirds majority requirement was not met. The Electoral Commissioner, Mr. Stephen Reynolds, presided over the election at the Municipal Assembly Hall.
The occasion was witnessed by major stakeholders and staff of the assembly.
