MCE ENGAGES WITH THE ASHAIMAN DISTRICT POLICE COMMAND OF THE GHANA POLICE SERVICE
The Honourable Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Ashaiman Municipal Assembly, Mr. Freeman Tsekpo, met with the District Police Command at Ashaiman to bolster security cooperation in the Municipality. During the meeting, Mr. Tsekpo commended the police force for their unwavering dedication despite facing resource constraints, stressing the importance of law enforcement that is both firm and compassionate. In recognition of his commitment, the police bestowed upon him the honorary title “Adwumawura,” meaning lover of good works.
Addressing pressing challenges, Mr. Tsekpo identified poor street lighting, deteriorating road conditions, limited police infrastructure, and overlapping activities among various task forces as critical issues impacting security. He assured the police that efforts to improve road networks through rehabilitation and new construction, funded via advocacy initiatives, are already in motion to enhance accessibility and safety.
A significant priority outlined was the decongestion of local markets. The MCE revealed plans to leverage Public-Private Partnerships to develop modern parking facilities and expand existing market spaces, facilitating the orderly relocation of traders to designated areas. He also underscored the need for strict enforcement of traffic regulations to curb illegal on-street parking and unauthorized commercial lorry stations. Responding to police concerns, he pledged to supply the task force with appropriate uniforms to bolster their operational effectiveness.
The meeting concluded with a renewed commitment to sustained collaboration between the Ashaiman Municipal Assembly and the police force. Mr. Tsekpo articulated a vision of Ashaiman as a secure, well-developed municipality where residents feel protected and empowered, and where coordinated efforts drive sustainable growth and enhance the quality of life for all community members.
