ASHAIMAN MCE RALLIES CLERGY FOR COLLABORATIVE DEVELOPMENT

The MCE of Ashaiman Municipal Assembly, Hon. Freeman Tsekpo, on Monday, 28th July 2025, engaged members of the clergy at Rhema Outreach Church in Lebanon as part of efforts to strengthen partnerships with faith-based institutions in addressing pressing municipal challenges. The interaction focused on leveraging the moral influence of religious leaders to support critical civic interventions, particularly in sanitation, urban order, and revenue mobilization.

Hon. Tsekpo urged the clergy to use their pulpits to instill proper sanitation habits among congregants, especially the youth, and to actively encourage participation in clean-up campaigns. He also appealed for support in relocating traders and customers to designated market centers, stressing that the Assembly will soon take steps to clear street hawking and on-street trading to improve urban mobility. Additionally, he sensitized the clergy on the importance of noise control and mutual respect for the rights and freedoms of all residents, including the rights of churches to peaceful worship.

On the issue of revenue, the MCE emphasized the need for a conscious and collective approach to scrutinize payment receipts to ensure accountability and boost the Assembly’s capacity to deliver development projects. Responding to questions from the clergy, he called for deeper collaboration, recognizing the church’s critical role in supporting the mandate of the Ministry of Local Government, Religious and Chieftaincy Affairs.
