A NEW DAWN FOR SPORTS DEVELOPMENT IN ASHAIMAN

The Ashaiman Municipal Assembly took a significant step toward transforming the sporting landscape of the Municipality when it engaged key stakeholders of the sports fraternity on 24th November, 2025, at the Municipal Assembly Hall. The meeting, graced by the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Freeman Tsekpo, and the Member of Parliament, Hon. Henry Ernest Norgbey, highlighted the Assembly’s ambitious vision to construct an ultra-modern 3,000-capacity stadium at the Roman Down Park within the next 24 months, at an estimated cost of GHC 30 million.

The Assembly used the occasion to outline the project plan, invite stakeholder input, and deepen collaboration ahead of the monumental development. Hon. Norgbey noted that the absence of a proper sporting facility has long hampered Ashaiman’s progress and shared that his years of persistence since 2017 have finally yielded results as the government has now given full approval for the project. He reaffirmed his dedication to improving other community pitches to ensure holistic sports growth.

Hon. Tsekpo emphasized the immense social and economic benefits the new stadium will bring; from youth development to job creation—calling on all stakeholders to unite behind the initiative. The engagement signaled a renewed commitment to elevating sports infrastructure in Ashaiman and marked the beginning of a promising new chapter for the Municipality.
