ASHMA BEGINS CONSTRUCTION OF MODERN MARKET

The Ashaiman Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Albert Boakye Okyere cut the sod for the construction of a modern market worth GHc 43 million. The project is being financed by beneficiary traders with support from Best Point savings and Loans Company. The project under the Public Private Partnership would have 1,260 shops, washrooms, banking hall, Lorry Park among others.

Speaking at the ceremony, Hon. Albert Boakye Okyere advised the contractor to prioritize the employment of tradesmen from the Ashaiman Municipality, because the area had abundant skilled labourers. He said the Assembly was delighted to undertake the development to enhance the economy of the municipality. He assured that the biometric registration carried out before the exercise would ensure resident traders have access to new shops in the market.

Mr. Shaibu Mohammed, the project engineer of Acheamfour and Sons Construction Limited, said the company was determined to complete the project ahead of one-year schedule, to enable the traders to resume full time business.

Those present at the ceremony were Alhaji Saaka Dramani (Municipal Coordinating Director), Nii Annang Adjor (Ashaiman Regent), Naa Anmi (Queen mother Ashaiman), Assembly Members, Traditional Authorities and the public.
