Residents of some parts of Ashaiman Municipality, together with Staff of the Ashaiman Municipal Assembly, downtown cleaners, Assembly members, and other stakeholders, participated in a clean-up exercise from the Ashaiman Roundabout\u2013Tulaku\u2013Don Bosco corridor on Saturday, August 15, 2026, as part of efforts to improve environmental sanitation and promote public health within the Municipality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The exercise focused on the removal of refuse from streets, open drains, sweeping and desilting of gutters, and other areas identified as sanitation challenges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The activity brought attention to the sanitation conditions along the busy corridor and reinforced the need for residents and businesses to take greater responsibility for proper management of waste. Traders, households, motorists and other users of the route were encouraged to keep the surroundings clean and make use of approved waste collection services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The clean-up also served as a platform for community members to support the efforts of the Ashaiman Municipal Assembly in creating a healthier and more attractive municipality. The Assembly stressed that occasional exercise alone cannot resolve sanitation problems unless residents continue to practice responsible waste disposal after the exercise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Participants were particularly cautioned against throwing refuse into open drains, gutters and undeveloped spaces. Such practices can block water channels, worsen flooding during heavy rainfall and create conditions favourable to the spread of disease. The initiative forms part of broader efforts to improve waste management in Ashaiman, including the proposed promotion of waste segregation at source and stronger enforcement of environmental sanitation by-laws.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
