Residents of Nii Man and Naa Amui electoral areas converged on Sunday, May 3, 2026, for a community engagement with Ashaiman Municipal Chief Executive Hon. Freeman Tsekpo and Member of Parliament Hon. Dr. Henry Norgbey.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The meeting focused on pressing developmental issues affecting the area, including frequent power outages, water shortages, poor road conditions, flooding, inadequate street lighting, and concerns over the payment of assembly rates and fees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Utility Disruptions Linked To Ongoing Works<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hon. Tsekpo explained that recent power and water interruptions stem largely from ongoing drain and road construction projects, which have damaged underground pipelines and power cables. He added that a recent fire outbreak at GRIDCo had worsened electricity supply, while transformer overloads, upgrading works, and pole realignments continue to cause localized outages. On water, he noted that smaller-diameter pipes, connected to main supply lines have reduced pressure and distribution to households.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Assembly has been in constant communication with utility providers to speed up restoration, he said. The establishment of a dedicated ECG district office in Ashaiman has also helped reduce delays in resolving electricity complaints.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Immediate Interventions And Revenue Mobilization<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

To safeguard public health, the Assembly has dug 10 boreholes at public toilets and schools to prevent unhygienic sanitary conditions. On revenue, Hon. Tsekpo stressed that rates and fees collected are reinvested in community projects and the administration of the municipality. He urged residents to meet their financial obligations and promised a more streamlined consolidated billing system in the coming years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He also highlighted Assembly bye-laws prohibiting the slabbing of drains without a permit and announced a 50% discount on permitting fees for existing old structures from April to September 2026. Property owners were assured of support in obtaining the necessary documentation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hon. Dr. Ernest Norgbey assured the people of having their best interest at heart and would continue lobbying for developmental projects for the municipality. He assuredly stated that he in collaboration with the assembly bring relief for to residents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The municipal Coordinating Director Ms. Jemima Apedo engaged participants on environmental cleanliness, waste segregation and personal hygiene.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Residents expressed appreciation for the open dialogue and welcomed the assurances that their concerns would be addressed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
