The Ashaiman Municipal Assembly is set to embark on another significant waste management exercise, aiming to evacuate over 100,000 cubic meters of rubbish from a sprawling six-acre dumping site near the motorway behind the Crystal Hospital. Led by Municipal Chief Executive Honorable Freeman Tsekpo, the initiative seeks to improve sanitation in Ashaiman and restore the area’s dignity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During a visit to the site this morning, it was discovered that junkies and waste collectors, activities of scrap dealers and residents from various communities, including those beyond Ashaiman, had contributed to the massive accumulation of waste. The site has unfortunately become a hub for social vices, with tents built and occupied by drug addicts and individuals engaging in illicit activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During his visit, the Hon. MCE, identified the urgent need to intervene and immediately directed the deployment of evacuation machines to the site the following day to clear the refuse dump. This action is part of the Assembly\u2019s ongoing efforts to ensure environmental cleanliness, which recently saw the successful collection of 40,000 cubic meters of waste at the Saka Saka Park. The latest exercise demonstrates the Assembly\u2019s commitment to ridding the municipality of filth and promoting a healthier environment. Similar evacuations, according to the MCE, have already been carried out at Presby Junction, Ashaiman Main Market, Newtown Junction, and the Saka Saka Park.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
