On 14th April 2025, the presiding judge for the Ashaiman circuit court, His Lordship Derrick Eshun on 14th April 2025 swore in eight Government Appointees of the Ashaiman Municipal Assembly. The appointees first took an official oath, oath of secrecy, and allegiance. The member of Parliament for Ashaiman, Hon Ernest Norgbey congratulated them for their appointment and said, it is the Assembly that drives the development of Ashaiman and advised them to learn the rules quickly for them to make impact of in floor of the Assembly as the task is huge and not just to be an Assembly Member.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

 He urged them to approve the president\u2019s nominee for the Assembly as their duties to approve and not to negotiate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the sale of Government lands in Ashaiman, Hon. Norgbey advised that the sale be halted as there is no land in Ashaiman for development. He tasked the new members to help take drastic measures to stop the unnecessary sale of such lands. \u201cGuidelines on the illegality is a crime and must be protected, he stressed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The presiding member of the Assembly Hon. Godwin Tsemese explained to them the concept of the local Government Act, Act 936 and the functions of an Assembly member, he further explained that the condition of service for being an Assembly member is a conditional service, without a salary, \u2018\u2019you are not an assembly member for the electoral area but to laisse development in your respective areas\u2019\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The presiding member advised that workshops with be organized for them to be abreast with the workings of the Assembly. Their work and the discussions of the Assembly are confidential, he emphasized. All the Assembly members, he said, shall serve on the statutory committees of the Assembly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The municipal coordinating Director, Mr. Banini Dzorbenyoi Kwadzo, said the Assembly is not partisan, but it is being guided by the standing orders, as stakeholders also have roles to play in our developmental process. Those present at the ceremony include Assembly members, party functionaries, and staff of the Assembly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
