ASHMA AND EDUCATION DIRECTORATE WELCOME NEW ENTRANTS TO ‘MY FIRST DAY AT SCHOOL’
The Ashaiman Municipal Assembly, in collaboration with the Municipal Education Directorate, on Wednesday, September 10, 2026, visited schools in the municipality to welcome new entrants to formal education under the “My First Day at School” programme.
The Assembly supported the initiative with books and other stationery for Kindergarten 1 and Basic 1 pupils.
The Municipal Education Director, Ms. Gloria Kwakuyi, welcomed the pupils and distributed the learning materials, indicating that the materials were provided by the Hon. Municipal Chief Executive, Mr. Freeman Tsekpo, in support of their educational journey.
The team visited the Blessed Clementina School and the Ashaiman Cluster of Schools. At Blessed Clementina, a total of 63 pupils benefited — 13 in KG1, 15 in KG2, and 35 in Basic 1.
At the Ashaiman Cluster of Schools:
At Ashaiman No. 1 Basic, a total of 29 pupils received the souvenirs.
At Ashaiman No. 2, 16 pupils were presented with books and stationery.
At Ashaiman No. 3, 27 pupils in KG and Basic 1 also benefited.
And at Ashaiman No. 5A, 18 pupils in KG2 and Basic 1 benefited.
The rationale for the initiative is to motivate the children, whip up their interest in education, and provide learning materials to support their academic journey.
Officials noted that such activities contribute to effective school planning and help ensure that pupils have the necessary materials to support their learning from day one.
