MCE’S ENGAGEMENT WITH RELIGIOUS BODIES IN ASHAIMAN

The Ashaiman Municipal Assembly on 10th December 2025 hosted a vibrant and inspiring stakeholder
engagement with all religious bodies at the Assembly premises. Led by the Member of Parliament,
Hon. Ernest Henry Norgbey, the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Freeman Tsekpo, and the
Municipal Coordinating Director, Mr. Banini Dzorgbenyui Kwadzo, the meeting brought together
pastors, imams, departmental heads, and unit leaders in a strong show of collaboration. The gathering
reaffirmed the Assembly’s commitment to deepening partnerships with religious institutions as key
influencers in promoting local governance, community participation, and civic responsibility.

A major highlight of the engagement was the introduction of the Assembly’s bold vision to construct
a GHS 30 million ultra-modern sports stadium at Roman Down Park, an initiative expected to
transform sports development in Ashaiman. With GHS 10 million already pledged from the MP’s
Common Fund and the Assembly’s Common Fund, religious bodies were encouraged to support
ongoing fundraising efforts. Leaders were excited to learn that key contributors may have portions of
the facility named after them, with the possibility of tax waivers as appreciation. Updates were also
shared on ongoing development projects, including market decongestion, proposed car park
construction, and the relocation of scrap dealers to pave the way for new infrastructure.

The interactive Q&A session saw religious leaders raise critical concerns, particularly on major roads
and drainage challenges in the municipality. The MP and MCE assured participants that most roads
have been captured under the Government’s Big Push Agenda, promising massive rehabilitation works and improved drainage systems, some of which are already underway. The meeting was done with a renewed sense of unity as religious bodies committed to supporting assembly projects, amplifying
community education, and championing the dream of building Ashaiman’s ultra-modern sports stadium. Together, Ashaiman is rising stronger, informed, and united for progress.
